Anyone else finding the shielding advice totally impossible to implement?

I have had ‘the text of doom’ saying I should start social shielding. Trouble is I live with my husband who is an essential worker (police), our house is too small to stay apart from him and I genuinely don’t think I could manage without him, we have two young children and a dog who I will be responsible for whilst he’s at work. The advice is that I should basically stay away from everyone and if I do have to be in the same room as them to keep three steps away from them. It’s just not possible and I feel really stressed out by it all. I’m assuming I’m not the only person in this situation. The advice is just so impractical for a family like ours where I am basically the lynchpin of everything (I’m not unwell as my medical condition is well controlled). My husband has offered to find somewhere else to live but I genuinely don’t think I could cope with that.

Yes, we both work in schools

I'm managing to scare myself just thinking about it - so trying hard not to

I’m lucky that my work isn’t essential so I can concentrate on staying home and childcare but my husband can’t not work. I’ll do what I can but it won’t be much from the list I’ve been sent 🙄

Stress is something that makes my underlying condition worse (it’s autoimmune and I take azathioprine for it) so maybe I’d be better concentrating on that rather than worrying about using my own cutlery (when I’m the one washing it all up anyway - by hand as I don’t have a dishwasher).
