So anxious about job

I know I’m very fortunate to still have my job for the time being, however I don’t know how much longer our business can last through this. I’m currently working from home and the workload is starting to decline.

Even before this pandemic I had an irrational fear of being sacked, so now it’s escalated and I’m in constant panic. I work in a recruitment business so we’re definitely not essential to society. I’m so worried. Anyone else in a similar position? (I know it’s not the worst problem right now but I’m an extreme over thinker and I think the worst)

There is nothing you could do. In fact your anxiety is impacting your performance. A lot of people are worried, yes. Look up some CBT techniques.

Me too. It looks likely that Coronavirus will be the nail in my workplaces coffin. Even if we don't lose our jobs, we may have to take unpaid leave or our holidays now which I can't afford. Not a great environment to be getting a new job.

Op, I’m the same.
But look at it this way. When searching for a new job, no-one will query why if you change job in spring 2020.

Many people will be looking for new jobs in September. Lots of people will be angry their employers let them go, so those employers will need to find new staff. Recruitment agencies will be very busy.

The recruitment industry is horribly stressful. Maybe a good time to think about what change you could make If you change job.

Necessity being the mother of invention, people will adapt to this situation, and new companies will spring up.

You will be ok. Try not to worry

I feel the same OP. But remember the government has announced help in these circumstances such as the 80% wages. That means a lot of people will keep their job who wouldn't have without the grants.
