I work as a sales consultant at a well known Storage company, would that count as essential after his announcement today? Currently we are still open & im commuting via public transport.

You are supposed to stay at home

Gooseygoosey12345 · 23/03/2020 20:57

No. It's not essential.

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2020 20:57

No, of course not. Stay at home.

AnneJeanne · 23/03/2020 20:58

Seriously?

Shouldershrugger · 23/03/2020 20:58

You should be home.

SoloSolow · 23/03/2020 21:00

What is happening with MOT tests? Mine is due at end of month and I need my car to avoid using public transport.

MagentaRocks · 23/03/2020 21:00

No it isn’t essential. Essential is emergency services, food shop, and pharmacies. Nothing else should be essential. I would stay at home if I could but I can’t. I will be going to work tomorrow and so will dh. We just have to hope one of us doesn’t show symptoms or we will both have to stay home.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 23/03/2020 21:02

Unless you're storing ventilators and you're the only one with a key! stay at home your job is totally non essential (no offence)

Wingedharpy · 23/03/2020 21:05

@TheArtfulScreamer1 :
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You've made an old "extremely vulnerable" woman laugh a lot!

Alonelonelyloner · 23/03/2020 21:28

When I was listening he said you could go to work. He didn't say only key workers can go to work!?

ripples101 · 23/03/2020 21:34

Alonelonelyloner

If I think he was referring to nhs, supermarket staff, etc. Ie those who work for services that can stay open.

AvoidingRealHumans · 23/03/2020 22:03

I am off with the children now anyway (unpaid) but my work is still open (hotel) and my colleagues are still expected to go to work. I was hoping a hotel would be "non essential" and be shut down so I could get some help with my wages.

Mumofoneandanotherontheway · 24/03/2020 13:32

Update: so we are still open & trading as normal which is quiet horrendous seen’s hardly any customers are coming in. They put how they are so concerned for the colleagues welfare but actually I don’t think they are. Hardly a essential place to be open in my eyes! Thought I’d pop on here during my lunch break.
