Anyone else received a text message about isolation and confused?

Ok received text this afternoon, I'm mid 40s and v fit, no underlying health conditions so thought it was scam. Called GP surgery and it is DS. They couldn't tell me why. He has seasonal asthma and is 15.

No one else I know has had a text including a v good friend who has v bad asthma. Is it just a case of them being rolled out or could there be another reason DS has received it.

DH is a key worker so we're carrying on as normal as it says in attached clicky link with DS staying 3 steps away from everyone. He is fuming which is pretty funny as he self isolates due to being a moody teen at least 98% of the time. Don't know what you got till it's gone eh!!

That is very weird. Especially that they couldn't tell you why. Does he have a hospital consultant at all? It'll Lukey be the asthma.

I got mine but I expected it. Not sure how im going to manage to stay I doors for 12 weeks with a 7yr old without cracking up! It says I can open a window! Lol. It has to be done though.

Feeling a bit shaky about it all.

nildesparandum · 23/03/2020 19:34

I have got mine.I am over 70 and have COPD. A friend of mine who id two years older than me and has Asthma has not got hers yet.

PlanDeRaccordement · 23/03/2020 19:38

I think they have until 29 March to contact you.

RedRosie · 23/03/2020 19:43

My husband. He is in partial remission from cancer and has asthma. He's upset as he's a vital worker and wants to work. I'm secretly very relieved.

Blondiney · 23/03/2020 19:44

I got one, was hospitalised two years ago for a random asthma attack. Been absolutely fine since so didn't expect it.

Mumshappy · 23/03/2020 19:47

I got one this afternoon. Rang my gp surgery as we dont have any of the stated conditions/problems stated in the link within the text. Was told it was a mistake!!

GrumpyHoonMain · 23/03/2020 19:49

Wait for the letter. I think a lot of young people in ICU had severe asthma so they probably want to cover all bases. You can always discuss your DS’ individual case with a doctor.

Ozziewozzie · 23/03/2020 19:50

I’ve got one too. I’m presuming it’s for my ds who is very prone to respiratory things.

Number3or4 · 23/03/2020 19:55

Hi, I got one to and I’m very confused. I don’t have any off the illness started and neither do dc. I was thinking it is either a scam or a mistake. I will have to wait until tomorrow for clarification. Unless it is for 3yr ds who was born premature but has had no respiratory problems and no admission to hospital since the first time he was discharged home. It is a strange text to get.

BusMum79 · 23/03/2020 19:57

I got one. I’m on Azathioprine (an immunosuppressant - been on it 25 years but low dose) as have ulcerative colitis. Also very mild, well-controlled asthma. We are already in isolation because of mild symptoms in the house so haven’t been out for a week as it is. I’m not feeling great but no fever and cough abating. Been monitoring my likelihood of being on the list for a while - a few days ago I wouldn’t have been on it but criteria have obviously shifted. As having mild symptoms and on list, I was told via text link that I should call 111 - they had less info on it than me so am no further forward! Now just resigning myself to being on that list after all. Husband is dentist and we have 3 kids & I’m at end of mat leave - am a freelancer so can’t look for work - he can’t work because too risky that he will bring something home. All a bit of a mess! Just hoping the mild symptoms we have are not the dreaded - or at least mild cases - and looking forward to June!

Princessdebthe1st · 23/03/2020 19:59

I got one. I had cancer last year but t finished chemo in May. I contacted my nurse specialist and she doesn’t know why I had one either as I am not in the at risk groups. She is going to find out and get back to me.

Toomuchgoingon · 23/03/2020 21:49

I received my text today. Also on Azathioprine. Ho hum.

lorns01 · 23/03/2020 21:51

Received mine too. Going to be pretty tough keeping distance between me and the rest of my household! Sad

Bloomburger · 23/03/2020 22:02

Wow, lots of people it sees.

Practice manager is going to ring me in morning with more details.

He has a condition that mead his immune system over reacts and lymph nodes swell if he gets an infection. I suppose maybe it's this. It's recent and they said nothing much to worry about.

Or maybe his hay fever and asthma meds combined means he just triggered something and he was flagged up.

DD is edging around the room away from him! We sat him at one end of the table and us at the other. Was v v odd.

Hope you guys are bearing up ok. It'll be weird for all of us.

I'm another one on Azothiaprine and also got a text.

However, British Society of Gastroenterology, who have been advising the NHS on guidance for people with Crohns or Colitis put me at moderate risk based on the medication I'm on. I don't have any other conditions, am in my 40's and generally very fit and well.

crohnsandcolitis.org.uk/news/advice-for-people-with-crohns-and-colitis-self-isolation-social-distancing

The mixed messages are really not helping.

BusMum79 · 23/03/2020 22:59

@Alanna Totally agree. My UC has been in remission for ages. Clear as mud, like all the other messaging! Was v upset when I got it - think that’s when everything really hit home! I’ve just turned 40, had a baby last year, mum of 3 under 7 literally cannot keep my distance from them so it’s all a bit Confused

lorns01 · 25/03/2020 12:50

How are you feeling a couple of days after receiving the text of dread ladies? Has it settled in yet?
I'm so so, still a bit up and down 🥺

lorns01 · 25/03/2020 12:52

P.s I read online that the NHS service we're sending the vulnerable list to GP surgeries to ask them to confirm if they're right to include us or if they'd missed anyone out.
My GP hasn't heard a peep off them yet.

KatyMac · 25/03/2020 13:05

We havent received ours and I was a bit concerned but I read that they have to get it to us by 29th

I'm assuming we will get one as DH has Bronchiectasis and as this is what some people are left with after Covid I assumed using only 2/3rds of his lungs would put him at risk

But who knows?

I have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue & a damaged bowel I know I get viruses more seriously but I am assuming they won't 'count' as CFS/FM never do!!

& DD has weird asthma - she hardly ever has asthma - almost never has an asthma attack then she gets a cold and her lungs give up completely her peak flow drops to less than half (sometimes lower) and she has an attack that lasts until she has steroids (& sometimes antibiotics - but only if she gets a chest infection) - so who knows if she will be on the list

But we are staying in regardless

BusMum79 · 25/03/2020 14:04

@lorns01I rang my specialist gastro clinic and they have regraded me as a moderate risk. They said it had been up to GP surgeries as you say and that the don’t agree that many of their patients meet the criteria. They were great and also had some really useful advice for me re managing the suspected COVID symptoms I’m having. I just found it reassuring to get some tailored info - but bottom line is we aren’t going anywhere for a long while yet either. Stay well all.
