Hi,

Not sure anyone will be able to answer this, but I due to cremate my mum on Thursday. The church service has been locked down just me, my brother and the priest... Luckily she died before CV in hospital on the 1st March, where I was able to see her in her final hours.....but I just wondered what will happen if we go to a complete lockdown. Will we still be able to go to a service, she has been dead now nearly 4 weeks and I just want to lay her to rest??? Its taken four weeks to get a funeral sorted. The mass bit of the day would be very important to my mum as she had great faith in her religion (Roman Catholic), I know because I cleaned her flat and had never seen so many religious statues and prayers.

Thanks, a stressed out mummy of two and grieving daughter x

I know in other countries they are using Skype and similar to stream funerals with just the priest present. I am really sorry. Flowers

I'm so sorry for your loss Thanks

My best friends mum died a few days ago, it's sooo hard not being able to support her and give her a huge hug.

They have been told they can have a small cremation with just the 3 family members there.

Thanks, I think that's what might happen now. I just feel so sad that we cant be there.

Friend had to have private, immediate family only at the crematorium, and cancel the gathering afterwards.
So sad. I am very sorry.

OP, sorry to tell you this but my friend is having her Mum cremated on Thursday. They were meant to be having a service at the crematorium but it's being cancelled. Feeling very sad for her as it's an awful thing to happen. Fingers crossed for you the church service can go ahead.

sorry yes, the priest has told me that it must be the bare minimum to come to the funeral. I just got a bit spooked by reading the news online in what BOJO is going to say later...…… in case it does become a lockdown....

I’ve just spent what could be the last few hours I have with my mum so I’m wondering the same 😢
So sorry for your loss xx
