For those who are not getting what they need from supermarkets, I've been self isolating but had to go to the surgery today. There is an ASDA nearby and with scarf wrapped round mouth and nose and wearing gloves I decided to see if I could buy what was missed from my delivery.
All was calm, baskets and trolleys looked normal, no huge piles of anything. There were a few gaps in the shelves - baked beans, flour, nappies (there were some), bread and cakes (ditto) pain meds like paracetamol etc. There was plenty of ham/cold meat packs, milk. yoghurt, orange and other juice etc. I bought:
A couple of bananas, pack of grapes, 2k pack of potatoes (there were only a few but I took one because I eat quite a lot of potatoes as I don't eat pasta or rice), a pack of sprouts and french beans, a small sliced loaf to freeze and a loaf from the bakery for eating this week, celery, pack of 2 gem lettuce and tomatoes, Kellogs cornflakes, pack of iced buns, a packet of biscuits and a bottle of whisky.
With the order for meat I will be receiving this week from a butchers, I am not over-stocked but have sufficient to see me through the next week or two of isolation.
I drove past (on my mobility scooter) a Co-Op and from what I could see they appeared to have bread and milk and other items so if you're desperate it may be worth a visit.
