I have a daughter, in current UK year 2. Born 2013.

Do you need help with this? Cos I do! Let's help each other.....Please!!

Our school is using Google Drive. But so far, so empty! No idea what I'm doing but I'm determined my child isn't going to go back to school six months behind.

Please feel free to share tips, websites or anything that you feel could be educational or frankly...anywhere close to what they should be learning!

We can do this .... right? Sad

I think one of the best things you can do is to get them reading as much as possible. A lot of the school work over the next few weeks are targeted at the SATS which I imagine will not be going ahead now, so you can be a bit more flexible. I'm thinking of ways to include maths into our every day lives and we will find a couple of interests and do some topic work on those. My child struggles with writing more than science or maths (reading comprehension is good too but mostly around interests) so we will do some writing practice. I was thinking a diary might work well for regular writing practice. We will also be learning about all the continents and working on the things that we often miss in the business of school term like telling the time. I'm going to try and limit devices and switch some of the games to more learning orientated although there are worse things than playing Pokemon right now. Also going to do some exercise at home and have as much fun as we can. Also some workbooks to do and some crafts. Mostly I will be looking after my younger DCs, and doing the housework. But there's always room around that to do 10 mins worth of times table practice or shape recognition, and helping with the cooking is a good learning opportunity too. There will be days we don't do any learning, and other days we get the opportunity to really sit down and work on things but I can't commit to a fixed learning pattern, I hope whatever the school provide will have consideration for that.

Get audio books for free on a lot of sights
Or try OXFORD owl
Check her phonic
For maths do some baking or measuring at home
Mix and match LEGO for fractions
Learn to tell the time
Shoelaces wordless be good

Thank you, a diary seems a great way to encourage daily writing practice and also story telling!
Yes to all of your other suggestions too. Will get DH onside to try to get the kids doing maths as much as possible because it's really not my strong point, I'll admit!

@AnotherMurkyDay

I seem to be one of the few not stressing about this, not sure why! I am not planning a strict routine or anything. This is a huge change for them and I am not going to put any pressure on them. Luckily they both like learning so I am sure they will be up for it as and when. And I am planning a couple of themed days, Kings and Queens for example where they can dress up and we can learn about castles or something, look at photos online and make our own lego castle. But the rest of the time they will be helping me in the garden, helping with cooking and washing, playing board games, reading, arts and crafts, making up stories, drawing. I have downloaded some educational programmes from CBBC which are fun but from which they will, hopefully, learn a little something too! I am sure we will be working our way through Disney plus as well!

The code is UKTWINKLHELPS
It has worksheets and ideas for every subject.

Tuesday Mum shouted at me and it made me cry. I only flooded the bathroom a little bit. I wish I was at school.

Thursday We have run out of chicken nuggets. I'm eating dry coco pops from now on ONLY
Friday Mum keeps going to the loo. She says she's got a bad tummy, but I know for a FACT she's just messaging her internet mummy friends about how much she HATES me and my siblings. My Gran bought us some groceries but she bought the WRONG crisps and NO SWEETS FML send help

Hello and thanks.

Just been sent a link to whiterosemaths.com for my year6 DD, it appears to have maths for all year groups on it and doesn't need an account setting up or any school affiliation so is a potential for everyone and anyone who needs a maths resource.
