Lockdown: moving between houses?

Our house has been in lockdown for just under a week as I live with my 90 year old Nan.

My mum has lung disease and has been on lockdown for past last two/three weeks.

My mum was waiting for our house to be in lockdown for at least 2 weeks as she obviously worried about catching it. But she does want to be with us - I need support with Nan and she doesn’t want to spend (at least) 3 months with no company.

Do you think motorways will be closed? A possibility for her not to be able to do the 70mile journey?

When do you think the journey would ideally take place? Another consideration is if you or she is in an area with a fairly high outbreak. Obviously they're not closed for now. I might be wrong but I think Spain put a small lockdown in place arond the 5000 mark, Italy's northern region was around 9000.

When? Next week? Nobody can tell you. Motorways are unlikely to close but non-essential trips will be cancelled if we go into lockdown and this may not meet the criteria. I’d expect that it wouldn’t, as she won’t be the only person alone, and you are coping with Nan... but mostly because there’s no point going into lockdown if people are still allowed to travel and mingle as normal.

When will you be at 14 days? How soon lockdown comes really depends on whether people start taking the advice seriously or not. BJ has been clear that he didn’t want to have to do it too early or for too long.

It’s all a guessing game really... if you really want your mum with you, can she come to yours and lock down in a different part of your house; with no contact until you & nan have passed quarantine?

Ideally my mum wants to leave it another week or so. She’s also finishing some jobs at her place and my stupid bloody brother turned up here a couple of days ago to pick up some bits and ended up lingering around.
