Covid

Was I wrong?

I mentioned elsewhere that DP and I should have escaped to the Lakes in our campervan this weekend, and isolate ourseves there for 2 nights in a secluded valley. I gradually became uneasy about this as Friday wore on, and eventually told DP that we shouldn't go. A massive row ensued, with DP sulking until Saturday (you know how it is).
I'm still convinced it was the right decision, but still not clear why. If we were self contained with facilities and food, then we could still self isolate. So was I right or wrong, and why?

It would only count as self isolating if you didn't get out of the van wouldn't it?

But what's the point of self isolating for 2 nights?

Why would you go? A bit selfish I would have thought as you could have taken ill and used up scarce resources. Also how do you know the valley would have been secluded? There are plenty of other selfish and thoughtless people who may have done exactly the same.

Everyone who has a second home, camper van or even tent has had exactly the same brilliant idea OP. Not only are you risking the spread of infection you are also risking adding pressure to already overflowing services, many of which are low capacity in that area and at beyond braking point as it is.
