I don't think so.

NemophilistRebel · 22/03/2020 18:17

No it hasn’t

Campaigners are reigning campaigns against it back too as the government have enough to worry about

At the moment it’s guaranteed jobs for the people doing it so if they cancelled it they wouldn’t be saving any money as the people would still need to be paid and contracts already been signed

However, I wish it was cancelled (being very NIMBYish)

StealthPolarBear · 22/03/2020 18:18

Oh I see. I suppose you're right.

I thought cancelling it would free up money to deal with the issue in hand.

I think it would have done if the government wasn’t agreeing to pay people’s wages when they lose their jobs and it was the first thing I thought that could potentially help

That and using all those no longer in service floating cruise liners as potential quarantine hospitals

Notice to proceed posted this morning. No matter what the cost apparently.

I am so fucking angry about this huge waste of space project. It was fucking pointless to begin with, its destroying countryside around us, and its a mammoth waste of money as we enter an economic depression and have to pay God knows how much back for all the furloughed income in the future. So angry.

I wish it would be - but no, they are still working on it. Stupid slice of money for contractors - destroying my local area - which is not rural but urban. The main thing that is to come from it is a massive shopping centre in Central London, as far as I can see.

With prime units for Debenhams, Next, Oasis, Top Shop ...
