People moaning about groups of dc hanging out but schools open for childcare?

Every other post I read is a rant about people having seen groups of dc hanging out in our village. Irresponsible parenting etc. If this is such a concern (and I agree it is) I just don’t understand how the schools opening to look after a load of dc is not hypocritical and dangerous. Genuinely confused 🤷‍♀️

HOW are there people who STILL don’t understand the difference between ESSENTIAL and NON-ESSENTIAL contact?

FFS read the news. Educate yourself. Use your bloody common sense.

LangSpartacusCleg · 22/03/2020 23:54

It is very simple.

  1. EVERYBODY should keep their kids at home
  2. If you are a KEYWORKER, schools will provide childcare so that you can go to work (Because you are a KEYWORKER and therefore NEEDED at work) and not leave your child unsupervised at home to burn the house down.
drinkygin · 22/03/2020 23:59

If schools don’t stay open to care for the children of doctors and nurses, there will be nobody to care for the sick and therefore people will die.
Clear enough?

Thedogscollar · 23/03/2020 00:01

Seriously. I give up. Watch the bloody news and stay at home. Certain kids are going to school because their parents are out saving lives and keeping the country going. Kids hanging about on the street could be spreading this shit. This really really is NOT that difficult to understand.

Barbies97 · 23/03/2020 00:02

Are you actually serious OP?

Thedogscollar · 23/03/2020 00:04

Hotdogguy You hit the nail on the head. It is very worrying how some of the nation are behaving and thinking right now.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 23/03/2020 00:19

School for key workers, essential.
Kids hanging about in groups outside not essential.
I don't understand why people aren't getting this?!

CoffeeHere · 23/03/2020 01:01

Please let this be a troll or we are all doomed.

I agree! I'm in Singapore and everyone is taking this very seriously and have done since January. Temperature taking going into work, strict quarantine and contact tracing along with testing has meant that in a country of over 5 million people confined on a tiny Island there have been 344 cases and only on Saturday were there 2 deaths.

I am Scottish, my adult kids are in Scotland, my siblings and my in-laws are all in Scotland and I'm despairing reading posts like this. The photos of beaches and parks being full of people at the weekend actually made me cry. Fucking eejits. I really don't know when so many British people became so selfish, maybe it was always there but I chose to see the good in people?

I was due to go 'home' early May for several months, that won't be happening. When can I go home? I don't know so I wont be seeing my kids nor my family, in-laws or friends for some time and some fuckers are moaning about not seeing their mates over the weekend.

I'm angry at the UK Government for not dealing with this more forcefully earlier and I'm sad that I am thousands of miles away from my loved ones at this time. My husband is here and is still a loved one but is going to be working from home 5 out of 10 days so we will see what a fortnight brings Grin

I have to be honest. I didnt realise there were so many people are that just have no comprehension skills or who enjoy being openly thick.

The kids in schools should not be in big groups. There should be lots less than usual.

The only kids that should begin school are the kids of keys, who have no other choice,. So that these key works can keep the country and health care running.

It's not all key workers kids. It's where key workers have no other choice, than to send their kids to school or they can not work.

Schools were closed to most pupils because kids hanging round in groups is dangerous. Unfortunately, if some kids dont go, the nhs and other essential services wont function.

The questions is 'when nhs workers are risking themselves and their kids, by putting them into school and going to work....why cant everyone else just keep their kids in to support them'

slashlover · 23/03/2020 07:01

Maybe if you looked in the actual coronavirus topic were this has been asked loads of times instead of just sticking it in AIBU?

CappyCapCap · 23/03/2020 07:18

I am not buying the faux 'no one told me I couldnt....they said we could excerise. The government havent been clear enough' that I saw on the news, coming out of the mouths of people in the 30s, seemingly intelligent people packed o to monkey bars in London parks.

They knew exactly what they were doing they know the advice that says you can excerise. It does not say exercise with less than a foot from a load of other people. It doesnt say....you must go do some pullups in the park, because you cant possibly just survive by having a walk on your own or a run.

In reality the government shouldnt have to lock us down. Social distancing rules are really really clear. Its selfishness that's making people pile into parks, markets etc.

I get there confusion around who is a key worker or who is extremely vulnerable. But most of us have the capacity to look at our own lives and make decisions. I am a key worker, technically. I looked at it, I dont think I am really. The people who work for my company who are are the boots in the ground people. Yes they need some admin support, but we can arrange that whilst minimising exposure and without putting my kids in school. So that's what I am doing. Just because I can, get my kids into school, doesnt mean i should.

Just because my dad can get into supermarkets are reserved shopping times (mum is vulnerable and dad works for the NHS), he doesnt. Unless he actually needs to.

The country shouldn't have to go into lock down, to stop intelligent people piling into the park together for a workout.

My sister - who is a teacher in Glasgow - will be at school. She'll be feeding the children of the feckless.

Mumski45 · 23/03/2020 07:50

OP are you not able to distinguish between necessary and unnecessary?

MerryDeath · 23/03/2020 07:55

ESSENTIAL

why are people find this so hard to grasp Confused
