Been looking at the guidance for hypertension being a risk and it's not completely clear. Anyone have any ideas? Is it just if over 70 with it, is it okay if it's controlled with medication?

If you have been offered the flu vaccination then you may be at risk. If not, not too much to worry about.

Not me, it's my mum. I'm trying to decide whether it would be better to leave DS with her rather than send him into school while I go to work next week

Forgot to say, she has the flu jab in work but only because she works in a school

Yes hypertension does increase risk. There was a report of all deaths in Italy and hypertension was definitely one of the underlying conditions.

hypertension is a massive risk factor but there are too many people with hypertension for the govt to include them in a catefory. Hypertension is the most common underlying condition in patienst who have died in approx 75% in either china or italy (not sure which). But if your son goes to school you need to ensure he doesn't see your mother until this is over. the flu jab thing is misleading as it was a quik pre prepared category for the govt to use rather than being based on particular risks for CV19 of which hypertension is a massive one

Sad Thank you for all those that have replied. Really don't know how I'm going to cope without my one support.

I take it I should be telling her to inform work of her condition. She's a Lunchtimer in a primary who's on the rota to work alternate weeks
