Community cooking for NHS staff etc

Is this a reasonable idea? Those of us stuck at home could prepare healthy meals for NHS staff and drop them off at some location where drs and nurses could collect them free of charge?

Failing that could those who can afford it pay donations to local restaurants to provide free meals for NHS staff, this might work better as they will have relevant food safety and equipment to do this. I'm happy to cook but delivery and containers would be an issue.

Rubbish idea or not?

Probably not due to infection control. I would be happier just being able to buy food from a well stocked supermarket.

Oh well, just an idea.

Sorry, but as much as home-cooked food sounds lovely, I wouldnt be happy eating a lasagne/curry etc where I had no idea of the ingredients, kitchen standards etc. You need a council inspection to make food at home for others and it just sounds a disaster!

Pre-packaged food is a better idea, or a delivery such as pizza. Nice, instant coffee, biscuits or anything that is pre-packaged and can be shared around.

Thats why I suggested local restaurants to it funded by donations i.e. buy a nurse dinner sort of thing as they would have all the right sanitation etc.

I was thinking hot meals was nicer than just a ready meal or cakes. It would also help support local restaurants?

Nhs staff are getting paid, how about something for the unemployed and those left with financial hardship.

The best way to help the nhs is to social distance!!
