Plus side to all of this is that the small, non-chain convenience stores and corner shops have likely seen an increase in trade. Sure, their prices are more but it has been a godsend for many (like me!) who can't get what they want from the big supermarkets. I don't agree with these shops (or any) profiteering though.
A slight digression but the supermarkets talk about not panic-buying, etc, but really they must be secretly loving all the massive profits they are making from this.
