When would it stop?

This may be a mad question but...

...when would you stop isolating yourself and your family?

Say you are a family of four. You, DP and two children. Today, one of your children starts running a temperature. You, very sensibly, all go into isolation for two weeks. Turns out LO just had a cold, but precautions, right? Three days after you come out of isolation your DP comes home from work with a sore throat and temperature. You all go back into isolation for two weeks. Four days after you come out of that, one of your LO's runs a temperature and is poorly...another two weeks' isolation?

Bearing in mind that we don't know what the incubation period of CV is, but we do know a cold is about three days, would you assume a cold? Would you isolate? Or worry that, since we don't know the exact period for CV, that it could be that?

Because if people are really being careful, are they not going to be bouncing in and out of isolation for months?
