Pandemic graphic with the spiky balls. False sense of safety?

I think this graphic is leading people to believe this current virus is minor and nothing to worry about. It suggests we need to get it into perspective.

I am a worrier so people keep send me the graphic to show me it’s nothing to worry about.

Not sure where I’m going with this other than to say this is obviously worse than SARS etc so why doesn’t the graphic show that?

Am I being dim?

I think that's a pretty meaningless graphic considering it's comparing an emerging/ongoing outbreak to finished ones. We can see the risks right now in the places that have it out of control, this graphic doesn't mean we're not in danger.
