Community carer and coronavirus

I have been working as a community carer for the past few months. I have never done anything like this before and did it to supplement my self employed earnings.

I work about 18 hours a week and can see up to 20 people a day. We have been told if a client is suspected or has Coronavirus we will have to go in and look after them. The PPE we have is gloves, apron and water repellent mask. I just don’t feel equipped for this. This was meant to be a little extra job.

On the other hand these people are on their own and need looking after, just not sure I can do it. I am not a nurse and never expected to have to possibly look after some one with a dangerous virus.

I guess I’m worried about seeing so many people, that I could spread the virus and that I really am not trained enough to deal with such potentially sick people.

Ang thoughts? What would you do?

I would insist on:

  1. Caring for the same people every single time.
  2. Caring for only people who live alone

This is because if they get infected it will be most likely from you.

Yes, I thought they would give us set clients but my rota shows a whole range of clients on each day. Any suggestion to change this is met with they know best.
