"As long as I have to go to work in a call centre that's full of germs and sit a foot away from someone, why should I social isolate"
Il go about my life normal until that changes

Well, it's silly isn't it? That's my opinion. Whoever thinks/said that is a silly Billy.

Someone said this to me yesterday and I lost it.

We're staying away from my lonely elderly father, I can't visit my mother in a care home, I won't be able to see my two new grandchildren when they arrive next month but they are swanning around every day 'because they have to go to work so can't do social distancing.'

It's the difference between essential and non-essential contact. If your workplace says you have to go in that's essentia,l but after that pretty much anything other than grocery shopping is non-essential.

It's so frustrating that people just aren't taking this seriously.

The person concerned needs to speak to their employers about ensuring health and safety at work for example by ensuring there are bigger gaps between people at work, deep cleaning regularly or looking at alternative ways to work, why couldn't calls be transferred to people's mobiles for example so they could work from home or reduce the size of the workforce going in.

The two things are unconnected and the person concerned is a selfish shit if they aren't prepared to change their behaviour and stop socialising to protect others
