Self Isolation - 14 days

For those in self-isolation at the moment, what happens when your 14 day isolation finishes?

Surely you can still get infected?

Are the government giving any advice?

Without a test you don't know that you were isolating for a cold, usual flu, another bug or CV.

That's the problem isn't it because you just done know so if you get more symptoms you have to do it again and you still won't know what it was after a further 14 days.

Yes you will have to do this again if you or anyone in your household has symptoms at a later date. My husband has a heart condition so he is self isolating but has had symptoms this week. He will need to continue to self isolate because we don’t know if they were symptoms of CV or something else

If you've completed your self isolation without symptoms worsening or anyone else in your household developing symptoms, you can go out again. If you or anyone else in your family displays symptoms at all at any point in the future, you all go back into self-isolation. At the moment there is no test to say whether people have had it and are immune, so this pattern is likely to apply until that test is available.

Thank you everyone. I was self-isolated as a precaution due to underlying health condition. Only my 5th day in isolation so in theory can go back to work in 9 days unless they tell me to stay at home.

Did you have symptoms @potter5 ? If so you can go out after 7 days? If you have underlying health condition then social distancing applies obviously
