Do we still pay the entertainer??
disneydatknee · 21/03/2020 23:40
We booked a local party entertainer for my childs birthday in may which we will obv have to cancel now. We didn't pay a deposit so we can walk away from this having lost no money. But it got me thinking, would it be weird to pay her anyway for a party she never hosted? My husband and I are in a very fortunate situation whereby we can both work from home and be paid as normal so our financial situation remains the same. We are by no means well off but feel terrible for those businesses losing custom due to the current climate. Would I be a fool to offer to pay this lady even though we cancelled the party?
Northernsoullover · 21/03/2020 23:42
Can you pay her and ask to have the party another time?
Smellbellina · 21/03/2020 23:43
Yes I would. Me and DP are both also fortunate to still be paid through this (minus a bit of contracting I usually do to boost our income) so will keep paying the cleaner.

I think it's really kind of you to consider it. I don't think it would be odd to offer to pay - or at least pay a portion - given the circumstances. I'm sure it would be VERY much appreciated.

Lots of children's entertainers around here are offering FaceTime sessions for the birthday child, so they still get a treat, if not a party. Perhaps yours is offering similar, then you can pay and still get something for your child on their birthday? Otherwise if you can afford it, I am sure it would be very gratefully received.
Santaclauswhosthat · 21/03/2020 23:51
If you can afford it I would. I'd send her a message saying you're doing so and that you hope she'll keep it on account so you can re-book at a later stage.
disneydatknee · 21/03/2020 23:54
I have sent her a message to say obv will have to cancel but would still like to pay her. I shall pay her now and hopefully book her in 2021!

Well done
I've messaged both my hairdresser and the trainer who runs the exercise classes I go to, offering to pay now and have the haircut/block booking of exercise classes later.
Many people aren't as fortunate as some of us and won't be getting paid at the moment
disneydatknee · 22/03/2020 00:22
I've paid her now. Bless her she said she would send balloons or do a live stream message to my LG. No need. We need to keep supporting these small businesses.
