I started a new job at the end of February. They are an attraction that had only been open 4 weeks ish and so they said they were still trying to work out how they were running the business.
They told us they were shutting their doors admist the growing panic of COVID19 as they knew it'd be inevitable (we're a very interactive attraction)
I had x3 paydays which were weekly. I hadn't given them my NI number or signed any sort of thing to say I worked there. But I was transferred my wages each week from a business account in the business' name. I had asked them the week we closed to legitimise my employment more but they were very cagey about it as it was meant to be zero hour/no shift guarantees.
Now people are being paid 80% of their earnings and i'm on nothing. I want to email them and kind of complain but do I have any leg to stand on? Should I be ballsy and just email the owners anyway?
I understand it's their small business and they've closed but i'm already going hungry and finding new employment /signing on is really difficult right now. TIA!
