I’ve lost count of the number of people who have declared to me that, although I’ve never noticed them depressed or anxious, cycling, walking in the park, meeting friends etc is suddenly vital for their “mental health”.

You have absolutely no idea of what other people are going through.

I suffer from anxiety, under control most of the time but does tend to flare now and again. I told my boss about it just before Christmas as I was really struggling and every day I was in work I was wondering if i was going to be able to control it for the whole day. I trust that he hasn't told anyone and so no-one else I work with knows.

Previously I worked two days a week at home anyway and for the past two weeks I have been at home full-time, the rest of my team have been at home for the last week. My anxiety is now absolutely through the roof and every day is proving to be a massive struggle to keep it under control. But if you spoke to anyone I work with they would have absolutely no idea. And do you know what, it's bloody exhausting trying to keep control of it all the time. I'm on tablets from the doctor, I'm paying for regular counselling, I'm doing everything I can but with this pandemic and the all that's going on at the moment, the struggle is even more difficult.

So BE KIND, you have no idea of anyone's struggle. Personally, I am absolutely following the rules and staying in as much as possible, but it really isn't doing my mental health much good. If people want to go out for fresh air or exercise and are doing so responsibly in a way that follows the government guidelines then that's fair enough. If they're not following the guidelines then their knob-heads who need to get a fucking grip.

Happy to provide 20 years+ of psychiatric notes including details of twice being Sectioned for you.

(And none of my friends have ever noticed me being depressed or anxious either.)
