Are you likely to lose your job or business?

I am employed, WFH but not sure how long for if the company I work for loses a lot of business.

I know of others who've already lost their jobs including a friend of a friend who was a live in chef and is now homeless.

There must be so many in precarious employment right now. Even with the 80% thing, there are those on low hours/fixed term contracts. And that's without even considering the self employed.

Scary times!

My job should be OK but my tenant is self employed so we may lose rental income if he struggles.

I’m a self-employed supply teacher... I’ve got a week of remote teaching lined up for the school I’ve recently been subbing in, but after that, I’m out of work until the schools re-open.

It also feels like the government have fucked my other streams of income, also, by cancelling the exams:

  • I won’t be getting paid to mark exams this summer;
  • it’s unlikely I’ll get much work as a private tutor, even by Skype, as nobody will need them (unless people maybe decide that they need them for their Year 10 children who are out of school? Who knows...)
  • I will lose the annual rush I usually get on my TES exam revision resources through April-June, since nobody will be revising, so there’s a few hundred quid lost.
