Can someone please clarify this for me.

My husband began a new job on the 12th March, so obviously after the 28th Feb required date.

He was working for another employer previously, so still employed.

Do you need to be sent home unpaid by the employer you were with on the 28th Feb? Or just you need to have been working in general at least since the 28th Feb?

My understanding is that if your employer needs to let you go because of this then they would be the ones claiming the 80% for you, not your previous employer

@unhappyclap but would his current employer be able to claim it for him if he wasn't working for them on the 28th Feb?

I believe yes because he currently works for them and they are the ones who are going to let him go. I think the 28th Feb back date is just to cover those who may have resigned after the 28th Feb. Could be wrong...hopefully someone else can confirm

Anyone, know if it applies to part-time or there's a minimum wage to qualify?

Hopefully it'll all become clear in the next few days. There's obviously a lot of preparation to be done.

Interested to see how it may apply to those on zero hours. I work in HR and a lot of our staff are on 0 or minimal hour contracts, so I'm hoping we can furlough them based on average earnings, managers may just be told from up on high to offer them no/minimal hours.

@Torvi so sorry! This is also the job he has been trying to get since graduating from uni 4 years ago. Shocking timing!

This is only apply to employer lay off employees due to lack of work. So unless company decided to lay off someone, government will pay 80% to keep the job which is only cover three months from March to May, they will reassess the situation after 3 months.

@rabbitcarrot his employer had to temporarily shut business due to lack of work. Hoping to open again in 3 months 🤞🏻
