People are still being allowed to leave the house to do a food shop daily. I mean as far as I'm aware. Not sure about China, but Italy, Spain and South Korea definitely.

Why is it only the UK where people are doggedly going out into crowded shops, exposing themselves to infection each time, to try and ensure they can get enough food together for 2-12 weeks locked away? It's crazy. People standing packed together waiting for shops to open to grab 3 more tins of beans and 3 more bottles of milk.

How did panic buying en masse become the first step of preparing to protect yourself from an infectious illness?!

If it gets really bad, the local councils or supermarkets can find ways to keep us fairly safe, like staggered shopping hours or designated shops. You don't have to locate and freeze every available cut of meat in your town in all of your newly acquired chest freezers!

The food waste at the end of all this is going to be epic. Let's hope the majority of rubbish collectors stay healthy...

And God forbid we start to get power cuts...
