Thanks for the update! X

Oh! Anyone know why it's earlier? I'm hoping it's not going to be like the other evening where there was no point to it, I really hope they're going to bring in more enforced measures - like closing non essential shops.

ScorpionQueen · 21/03/2020 13:10

Probably so Boris can knock off early. It is Saturday.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:12

Allie Hodgkins-Brown - 'GOVT - The Environment, Food & Rural Affairs Secretary George Eustice is hosting the Government’s daily press conference at 1400.'

Boris is having the day off - sounds like today is just don't panic buy advice.

To be fair he can't be having much of a weekend these days. He even said he would be working on mothers day so wouldn't see his mum

DressingGownofDoom · 21/03/2020 13:19

Thy probably haven't had a full day of meetings like usual what with it being the weekend so can have the speech ready for 2pm.

heartonastring · 21/03/2020 13:21

He shouldn't be seeing his mum anyway!!!

Wannabangbang · 21/03/2020 13:25

I'm hoping for full lockdown upon hearing of people having mass gatherings in pubs last night and hearing of people gathering at my local sports shop in promises of a 60%discount. This needs to be forced and now

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 13:27

Boris would be announcing the lock-down not the environment secretary.
A london only one might see Sadiq Khan there through as well.

NotDisclosedToday · 21/03/2020 13:32

If they ever do a full lockdown it will be the PM announcing it not a stand in.

Spied · 21/03/2020 13:33

Boris said he was seeing his mum ( and rest of family) unless I'm going mad.

Wannabangbang · 21/03/2020 13:36

Great so Boris isn't even following his own advice. Which is to not see people outside of your household. I despair

NaturalBornWoman · 21/03/2020 13:50

He did not say that! He said he wouldn't, and he'd be working anyway and he'd be sending her his very best wishes. Don't make shit up.

I didn't hear Boris say he'd be visiting his Mum when asked either, I did hear him say he'd be rather busy on Sunday.

ShellsAndSunrises · 21/03/2020 14:26

NoMorePies has explained the timing of the weekday briefings well.

Oblomov20 · 21/03/2020 14:27

Watching now. No breaking news as such.

Wannabangbang · 21/03/2020 14:35

Not really very breaking and not confirmed new uk cases yet or deathsHmm
Also questions around food banks skirted around, why can't the goverment make sure the needy are fed, it's disgraceful. Self employed workers, still no help.
Still allowing supermarkets to decide on rationing when today i hear things are just as bad, they need to put an actual ban on hoarding
