Ok, tribal for us compared with a lot of you, but does impact a good workers business......We are booked in with a plumber to have our bathroom refitted in june(booked in January as he is excellent and a very busy man!) . The job is for early June, so we need to order all materials and fittings in late April to tune of nearly ~£2k. I contacted him on Thursday to ask what to do as we don’t want to outlay this money upfront if job has to be postponed for months. His response was the job WILL go ahead whatever and to order materials. He sent me a long message which basically failed to acknowledge anything hint would happen to stop work (“I am well and fit” etc ).
I am really thinking it should not go ahead given government advice, and my DH is 67. but I am torn because if all his customers do this he’ll probably go bust despite what Gov support in place. I am also concerned about paying out £2k to a bathroom showroom only for job to be postponed or the bathroom showroom going bust before job done if postponed and loosing our money.
If I just ask plumber to postpone I could understand if he gets so p off with me that he refuses to work for me in future and he is so good I would be really upset
What would you do?
