Are you going out today?

If you aren’t self isolating (of course) are you going out today?

We are thinking of going to a National Trust place so that we can go for a walk. Obviously we will be staying outside, keeping a safe distance from everyone else and will bring our own sandwiches. We won’t let the kids use the play area (if it is even open).

I’m finding it hard to risk assess! Now that the kids are off school I am keen to get outside and get then running around as much as possible but obviously want to be sensible!

I am planning a weekend of cycling and running and next week I am going to start building a home gym with my partner

Hillocrew · 21/03/2020 11:16

If we all think like agent then this is going to blow up in our faces. YOU are responsible for taking as many precautions as you can. Forgo the visits to friends. Help the elderly person surely but you can't be visiting people and saying oh everyone else will have more contact. We all have to do this together. I'm taking full reslonsibility for my own actions and going near no one outside of my own home. I could however adopt your stance that sure everybody else is having coffees etc so why can't I

Balkinfly · 21/03/2020 11:19

I thought NT had now closed.

I agree we need lockdown with drones Police and Military, this thread shows that clearly.

AgentPrentiss · 21/03/2020 11:21

But you’re wilfully ignoring what the government has advised and are risking spreading the virus. This is why we will be forced to bring in total lockdown soon, with fines for anyone who leaves their home unnecessarily.

If there is a government enforced lockdown, I will adhere to it. As it stands today, schools are open, gyms are open, the kids sporting activities are still open, shops are open, and people are going about life as pretty much normal.

Our kids are still together at school for 7 hours a day. The government seems completely fine with that.

Ive seen a lot of posts that have made me worry this will get really bad here because people put their own personal needs above peoples physical health, and ‘mental health’ has become such an overused buzz word. Actually, your mental health is not more important than the physical health and threat of death of the people you may encounter and the ones they may encounter. People need to build their resilience and their mental health needs in their own homes.

I’m dropping leaflets through doors about community help for those who are vulnerable or self isolating

Whisky1988 · 21/03/2020 11:22

We are staying in all weekend. I work in a school so will be taking my 3 children in whilst babysitting lots of others all week. I'm certain we will catch it at some point no matter how much I tell them to wash their hands.

CalleighDoodle · 21/03/2020 11:22

schools are open, gyms are open, the kids sporting activities are still open

None of these are allowed to be open. What schools are open today?

FoxEars · 21/03/2020 11:23

Randommess

I think that your comment is a bit rude

You appear to be treating it as a bit of a joke

😳

Balkinfly · 21/03/2020 11:25

I’m dropping leaflets through doors about community help for those who are vulnerable or self isolating

Is that a good idea?

SocialDistancingIsImportant · 21/03/2020 11:25

No. Myself and DP won't leave the house until Monday when we need to go to work. Our DC has only left the house once for an appointment since Tuesday.

Looks to be life as usual where we live, playground and park has been full the last few days, gangs of kids still roaming around. Incredibly frustrating to see.

AgentPrentiss · 21/03/2020 11:26

None of these are allowed to be open. What schools are open today?

Well none today because it’s Saturday. But unless something drastic happens tomorrow, almost every school in Australia will be open on Monday.

WaxOnFeckOff · 21/03/2020 11:27

Had to go to the supermarket today as been in complete isolation so needed food. Ended up having to go twice as the pharmacy was closed until 9 (normally open at 8) and I needed to pick up DHs medication as he was down to last dose.

That's me back in now until we next need supplies. DH and DS still in quarantine for another week.

WaxOnFeckOff · 21/03/2020 11:29

Still whole families going shopping with babies/young kids in tow. I'm mystified. I appreciate there will be single parents who need to take the kids with them, but surely with 2 adults there, someone could have stayed home?

bloodywhitecat · 21/03/2020 11:29

Been to dog training (outside, obeying the 2m rule) and will go for a walk later but as we live in the arse end of nowhere we are unlikely to encounter anyone else.

firstimemamma · 21/03/2020 11:30

I popped into town for essentials and did my best to keep a distance from people, use hand gel etc. I did wonder what the point of my efforts were though - there were lots of people going into costa and other unnecessary places, lots of people mingling closely, sat very close together on benches etc. Lots of people really don't care!

Nofoolfornoone · 21/03/2020 11:30

@SuperFurryDoggy thank you. I feel like they’ve made it so confusing. It says on gov.uk website to say home don’t go out at all. Then when you scroll right to the end it adds “unless for exercise” that’s going to make people think it’s ok to pop to the shops etc .

Falacy · 21/03/2020 11:38

I think the self isolation with symptoms advice is mental. If you need fresh air, open a window. If you need exercise, do some starjumps / walk on the spot.

Femail · 21/03/2020 11:44

Staying in today but going into work tomorrow due to be a key worker

Figgygal · 21/03/2020 11:44

Will go for a walk with the kids
We live in a village and have country paths and fields we can venture to
Did think of going to local arboretum as it remains open but seems a step too far

SuperFurryDoggy · 21/03/2020 11:46

@Nofoolfornoone that’s alright lovely, these are strange and confusing times!! Smile

WaxOnFeckOff · 21/03/2020 11:46

Honestly, even with mild symptoms, exercise is not really doable in any great way, it's essentially a respiratory condition which makes anything more than a gentle walk difficult. Fresh air aplenty through the windows, standing in your doorway (unless you open right onto the street or live in a flat obvs!) or back garden if you have one. Complete isolation is a week/2 weeks. Those doing 12 weeks is a bit harder. I had my last day of complete isolation yesterday, it was sunny and I fancied a change of scene so I sat in my car on my driveway, enjoying the heat, window cracked open a little and read a book.

Social isolation is as above but can go to supermarket and out to exercise but keeping a distance

woodhill · 21/03/2020 11:47

I'm feeling unwell, not necessarily CV but even if I was well I will not visit my dc or dps now

zen1 · 21/03/2020 11:48

We are going for a drive in the car and taking sandwiches. If we find a bit of countryside with somewhere to pull in and no one else about, we might get out for a walk.

zen1 · 21/03/2020 11:51

I think it’s going to be impossible to stop the spread. I had to go to the supermarket yesterday and it was still full of panic-buyers. Somone had a hacking cough down one of the aisles. People still don’t seem to get the self-isolation if you have symptoms thing.
