Do I need to self isolate?

I probably sound ridiculous, and realise it's not a time to play around with maybes, but I genuinely don't know. I'm a teacher and my school have been very strict about the fact we must come in on Monday unless at risk or isolating. I think I just have a normal virus but can't find anything definitive online about cold symptoms being a sign so thought I'd ask here.

My temperature is 35.6- taken multiple times, doesn't change. I don't feel like I am cold though.
Very blocked nose and sniffles.
Utterly drained and have been for a while.
Very slight pain in my chest, but I only cough maybe every few hours or so (it's dry).
Very sore throat with swollen glands. Viral, not bacterial, as no spots on tonsils.
Breathing normally.

It's just a cold, right? Or do I need to isolate?

I'm afraid you need to isolate.

TwinsTrollsAndHunz · 21/03/2020 08:58

Yes you do.

wildthingsinthenight · 21/03/2020 08:59

Yes you must self isolate

Bluewater1 · 21/03/2020 09:00

Isolate - just in case - better safe than sorry

Turtlesone · 21/03/2020 09:00

This sounds just like what I have an I’ve been wondering the same! My temperature has been around 35 a lot and I assumed there was something wrong with the thermometer. Does 35 mean anything?

Mary1935 · 21/03/2020 09:02

I agree that you need to isolate.
I too am have a sore throat and glands up - I feel very dry in my mouth.
There are other symptoms but the focus is high temp/cough.
I think we can get other symptoms before these come on.
I’ve been a bit run down myself so I don’t know if I’ve picked something up?
I will self isolate.

Definitely isolate. My whole family started with cold like symptoms which started to clear and then the fever, upset stomach and cough appeared a few days later ☹️

From The Sun a couple of days ago:

Should I self-isolate if I have a cold?

According to the NHS, there is no need to self-isolate if you have a cold or the flu - unless you have either of the below two symptoms:

A high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
A new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly

mayandjuniper · 21/03/2020 09:06

@Turtlesone no idea, I thought the same! I even sat on it incase the thermometer was cold and it still said the same when I tried it again. DP seems to think you can become incredibly cold as a response to a virus, but no idea if that's true.

I've gone off the the main symptoms, Fever and/or dry cough. I suffer terribly with anxiety and can bring on any symptom of any disease in my own head, so I've had to be strong with myself and think I can't misread those symptoms, so anything else is likely a cold coming on or my own imagination.
