Does anyone know if we get a press conference today? I’ve found them reassuring to watch.

Really? Geez - his buffoonery inspires me with zero confidence. I expect there'll be the usual 5pm unless he takes the weekend off.

I really don't like Johnson but nevertheless have found him reassuring on the virus apart from his stupid "We'll beat this in three months" comment.
No idea if there'll be a press conference today.

TedsFederationRep · 21/03/2020 07:39

Events are moving so quickly now, I think they'll be a regular feature for a little while yet.

KatherineJaneway · 21/03/2020 07:41

Really?

I've found them helpful and informative yes. He does Q&A and answers all the questions. You don't have to like him to find those announcements useful.

I’ve found them reassuring to watch.

Me too - they’re helping me feel less anxious.

Boris is looking like a great Statesman in comparison to Trump, was just watching the video of Trump berating a journo for asking "what would you say to Americans who are scared? " Boris has been a bit waffly but he is saying the right things. I thought his answers to the question of are people who don't social distance immoral was good, he said something like; No we understand we are taking away people's right to go down the pub and that is not easy but it has to be done, and now is the time to pull together, not start calling names.

Could you imaging JC in this situation, dear god!

cantdothisnow1 · 21/03/2020 08:05

I've never been a Tory supporter and found Boris intolerable during the election BUT he is doing a good job now backed up by his ministers / advisors who do seem to have the best interests of the nation at heart. I am so pleasantly surprised by the wage offer. That does not sit with traditional Tory policy.

I think it is time to put political divisions behind us.

His conferences are reassuring as are the additional measures that are being announced on a daily basis to address concerns. I am sure there will be an announcement for self employed, but that is obviously far harder to administer.

CrotchetyQuaver · 21/03/2020 08:17

This is a moment which would test any leader, I'm reassured by Boris. I don't think Corbyn or Swinson would have been up to the job.

Anyway, he's the one we have so we just need to get on with it and adapt to these worrying times.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/03/2020 08:20

Thank God it’s BJ not JC.

SueEllenMishke · 21/03/2020 08:29

I've been impressed. He's been very reassuring and seems more human. He's been guided by experts and genuinely seems to have the best interest of the country at heart.

However some people still feel the need for political point scoring. I've deleted a few people from FB who constantly just go on and on about how labour and JC would have reacted differently.... sometimes contradicting themselves in a matter of days when BJ does the very thing they've asked for.
