Covid
Cough, isolation, baby formula
whatthefuckishappening · 21/03/2020 05:10
I've had a dry cough for two weeks now. Started with a cold. It shows no sign of abating. I doubt it's cv, but would cv symptoms have worsened by now?
We had an online delivery the other day but no baby milk came. Boots etc seem to be out online and supermarkets have no delivery slots, online chemist has none...friends/family have offered to look when they get their shopping, but nothing available. She needs anti reflux milk. Partner has been self isolating due to my cough. How many places can I keep asking friends/family to check? I feel like I'm also putting them at risk trying lots of places as that increases their exposure. What will I feed baby when I run out in a couple of days? Someone has offered me some of their normal powder but my baby can't hold it down very well but will be better than nothing. I'm fed up of the stock coming soon sign! Just feeling scared for my baby, hoping I haven't got cv and hoping people trying to get me formula aren't going to come into contact with someone with cv.

So sorry you’re in this situation , I’m currently pregnant so don’t know loads of places you can try that you haven’t already but have you tried independent companies online ? Or I’ve just googled Hipp organic and they’ve got some in on their shop online shop.hipp.co.uk/formula-milks.html
Good luck xx

Thanks - she normally has aptimil, but I can try this brand and hope she's ok with it. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Amazon prime also has next day delivery for formula.

Another option for anti reflux milk is to give normal stage 1 milk and then thicken it with carobel. This makes it sound like it's a DIY solution but it's what GPs often prescribe for reflux rather than the branded anti reflux milks. You can buy carobel from pharmacies or you can even get it prescribed from GP if you can manage to get an appointment and GP agrees that the reflux needs management.

Have you got a local fb group set up? I would ask on there? We have one and people are coming together, to drop food parcels etc off, to people who are self isolating.

I'm having the same problem with formula, my baby is 12 weeks old I had to go to Asda yesterday morning and they had literally just put the stock out and there was a group of women lining up to get some, by the time I got there there was only 2 tubs left... within 10 mins of the re stock it was all gone, Asda have limited to 2 tubs for each person (understandably) some people have been buying them in bulk and selling them online for ridiculous prices... how could anyone literally take food from baby's mouthes to line their pockets.
Those people should be ashamed of themselves!

@whatthefuckishappening as PP said there is formula in amazon currently. They have the SMA anti reflux. I know not your usual but better then none? Available for next day delivery.
PowerslidePanda · 21/03/2020 07:11
All 3 of my babies have had reflux and we found the Comfort milks easier for them to keep down, if you can get hold of any of that (it's thicker than the normal stuff) - I know Aptamil does one. They also gradually outgrew it, so if you do have to use regular stuff, your baby might cope better than you think.
majesticallyawkward · 21/03/2020 07:39
If you ask at a pharmacy they may be able to order some in for you too.
I'd go for amazon first though as it's next day delivery.
whatthefuckishappening · 21/03/2020 19:12
Thanks. I've been trying Amazon and it says slots are available, but it's not letting me click on any. Baby is 4 months.
CocoLoco87 · 21/03/2020 20:14
Whereabouts in the country are you? Can anyone on here help?
Harp1977 · 21/03/2020 20:18
Can you ask a local small/corner shop to order it in from supplier? We are doing that where I work for people, yes it is a bit more expensive but means you have it and know that there is x amount in the shop to buy. We are all trying to help each other at this point.
whatthefuckishappening · 21/03/2020 20:31
Chemist didn't know how long would take to get in. Can try corner shop. Fuck I wish breastfeeding had worked out! Will keep trying Amazon. I live in Greater London. Insane queues everywhere.
Selfsettling3 · 21/03/2020 20:34
If you just have a cough and no other symptoms you nolonger need to isolate.
Can you ask or a local Facebook covid 19 help groups?
