My ds who's has severe asd has got worse recently as I would expect. When he's like this I go outside with him a lot but i can't as he's very sensory seeking so for example will put his hands in his mouth, lick the pavement fences etc even in his buggy he will try and touch pretty much anything then hands go into his mouth. I'm aware that this is pretty small compared to what we are facing just now but my son is very distressed just now.
Any ideas would be welcome

Do you have a garden or private outdoor space? DS is taking his favourite toys into the garden every day (garden is currently 80% mud because of renovations so not ideal) and I'm trying to distract him with chasing games, but he's desperate to go further than the garden and I don't know how to do that safely. We're also self-isolating which is a concept too far at the moment.

Is your DS napping in the day? Mine has started doing it this week and I wonder if it's a coping mechanism

No outdoor space unfortunately. Funny you said about napping as ds has been recently

This book has lots of ideas many of which are indoors. Perhaps find ways to satisfy his sensory needs with stuff you have around the house.
