Stays on surfaces for several days

Has anyone heard about this?

I read an article in Pharmaceutical Field (18 March 2020) citing a study in America which showed the virus lingering for days on plastic and steel.

Does anyone know if this is legitimate or hyperbole?

How exactly can a scientific study be hyperbole? Clean hard surfaces regularly, wash hands after handling deliveries in cardboard boxes and consider setting them aside for 24hrs if they’re non-perishable.
