Just that really. I’m trying to think of the last time we had a crisis on this scale? When did schools last close? Etc. (I’m talking about an extended period not cos of snow) I’m 32 and don’t remember schools ever closing.

My father in law was the only child in his class who was not evacuated from London during World War II. Schools in his area were closed for 6 months and he had fond memories of wandering around London every day with his sister (he was 10)

Perhaps during the power shortages in the 70s? (I’m not that old so I don’t know)

There were strikes in Scottish Primary schools when I was a child in the 1980s. It went on for a while.

I'm late 50s & I don't remeber it ec=ver happening before. It was unusual that year we had all the snow for ages (?2010) when the schools didn't go back for ages after Christmas.

We were just told to wear an extra jumper during the power shortages. No heating at school for what seemed like the whole winter.

I remember strikes during the 80s and 90s. But was generally only some classes off at primary school and then some lessons at secondary school

I'm sure the news earlier said it hadn't been like this in Scotland since 1888 or around then?
