Got to be anonymous with this so will keep it simple. How long should a worker arriving from another European country wait until working in a uk care home? I'm talking about this week.

14 days

At least 14 days.

Why people are still arriving into the country is beyond me. We need to shut the borders until covid-19 is under control.

As I thought. I want to cry

What would you do if you worked in a care home who made doing otherwise?

Nobody is following it up with any kind of sanctions for anyone who breaks the rules, so far as I'm aware. That's the problem.

Babyroobs · 20/03/2020 21:37

They should stay away right now.

VadenuRewetje · 20/03/2020 21:37

do I understand that your employer wants to you to disregard safe quarantine practice in order to make you work with vulnerable people without being sure that you are uninfected?

do not go in. call in sick if necessary. even losing your job would be better than putting vulnerable patients in harm's way.

Dontletanyonedullyoursparkle · 20/03/2020 21:40

Yes, you are correct. They say they need the staff. I love my residents and staff and I want to cry but also so scared for my family.

Latest guidance here

There are plenty of UK people who need a job right now after losing theirs companies will have to activity recruit from UK anything else is pointless you could kill your "customers" countries who have been locked down are seeing new cases crop up from people coming home

okiedokieme · 21/03/2020 06:46

Unless from Italy perhaps, they are no more likely to have the virus than British based staff. Unless staff live in continuously and are quarantined for 14 days at the start there's always going to be a risk

am67 · 21/03/2020 07:09

14 days.

I am at an absolute loss as to why we have not closed our borders to foreign nationals
