Forest holiday break - July, bad idea?

We've had an email from them saying the plan to remain open, the very nature of their holidays are isolation, we would have regardless of the virus, taken the slower cooker and self catered for the break.

I'll be 6 months pregnant, we have DD who will be 2.5 and DH is very mildly asthmatic.

Our balance is due in a couple of weeks.
Should we still go? Or just accept the loss of our deposit? It wasn't much, but it would have been our first family holiday

I'm very torn

No you shouldn't.

NettleTea · 20/03/2020 13:18

No

and Im an owner of a tiny 4 unit glampingsite who is just waiting for the government to make the lockdown announcement or pull the plug for the immediate future

To really be honest. I dont think, especially given what they are saying on the news now, that we will be open at all this season

NettleTea · 20/03/2020 13:21

Unless they have full fumigation set ups I dont believe its possible to clean adequately between guests.

soft furnishings. rugs, curtains, pots pans, mattresses

Ive realised its completely impossible.

I also dont want to put myself and my staff at risk - laundry and cleaning and replacing ice blocks in cool boxes.
Its not working.
Its going to be rough but peoples lives are potentially at risk

I'd hold off for now until closer to the date you can cancel.

SpongeCake23 · 20/03/2020 13:37

Surely by July things will be improving a little?

Lycidas · 20/03/2020 13:38

We might have some respite in July so it could be possible.

DrFoxtrot · 20/03/2020 13:45

I'm booked for 6th April and I keep getting emails saying they're still open Confused. I will lose my whole balance if I cancel, or I could change the lead booking name to someone else. Who else wants to go??

I'm not sure from the T&Cs if we will loose more money nearer the time?
at the moment it's only £75 deposit, which I could deal with loosing, I think there's around £400 outstanding which is a lot for us to loose

@pocketem I'm completely social distancing right now, I haven't left the house since Sunday. I understand it's serious, but my question is for nearly 4 months away.

I guess I'm just hoping things might be starting to return to normal by then for my own sanity

We have a holiday booked in Cornwall for August that’s been fully paid for a few months ago. It might get cancelled yet. I would not book anything new now though - wait until nearer the time
