Premier inn and coronavirus issue!

I booked a stay at a premier inn for the 28th-29th March for 4 rooms. In light of the Corona Virus I checked their website and fully appreciated that I had booked a non-cancellable stay saw the only option was to amend the dates.

As I myself am pregnant, along with another of our group, and had that evening been instructed to avoid social contact I had no choice other than to move the booking, December was the closest weekend I could move the booking to, at least to try and salvage something by selling onto a friend etc rather than loose it altogether.

Within 24 hours of amending my booking I received an email explaining they had reviewed their policy and all stays up until the 31st of May were now refundable.

I rang up to explain my situation, expecting fully they would be able to understand that I moved my booking due to there being no refund option in place at that time and was met with a hard no with absoloutely no understanding to my situation or flexibility.

Am I completely in the wrong or is this worth pursuing to gain my (£370!) refund?

Are they withdrawing the offer of a refund?

@finfintytint

They are saying as I moved my booking (which was before I was informed a refund was available) to December that they cannot refund now. Although they can see the timeline of my original booking being next weekend, and the fact I moved it before their new refund policy came into play.

I’d get back onto them then. Doesn’t seem fair.

Put it in writing

I would ring again and speak to someone else and ask all over again. Don’t even mention that you have already spoke to to someone. Possibly a mistake. If no joy then I would put it in writing x

Glad to see other people think this is unfair!
Will try putting into writing etc and see how far that gets me, thank you for advice x
