Hi, just wondering what people think about this (based on guidance being as it is now). We’re due to go on holiday to Dorset in a couple of weeks (me, DH, DS14, DS12). Staying in a self catering house in the middle of nowhere. If we don’t go to cafes etc, is it ok to go do you think? I think it is - it’d be no different to if we were at home, just that it would be a change of scenery (we wouldn’t go to any crowded places and would stay away from people, but could go for walks in the countryside). I don’t think it would be irresponsible, but would like to understand if that’s wrong. Thank you!

No it's not ok.

mumof4males · 20/03/2020 09:07

No it's clearly says no unnecessary travel

MrHaroldFry · 20/03/2020 09:10

No unnecessary travel. A holiday is exactly that.

PrincessMargaret · 20/03/2020 09:11

No. Stay home.

Cornettoninja · 20/03/2020 09:14

No.

The sooner people accept that they need to stay put and hunker down the sooner this thing might be under some sort of control.

What is the matter with you OP?!

Imagine if several thousand families also decided to go ahead with their self-catering Dorset holiday. Half of them unknowingly carrying the virus. Half of the infected infect someone else in Dorset. Before you know it, medical staff in Dorset have potentially thousands of new cases to deal with. Stay at home and allow Dorset to cope with its own cases.

Wow, thanks for replying everyone. I thought I wasn’t being ridiculous, but obviously was!!! Feel like a right tit now!

Don’t feel like a tit @AfternoonNapsAreTheBest, things have changed very quickly.

Lizziesbusy · 20/03/2020 11:37

If you become unwell you’d rather be at home Confused

I think this sums up we all need to stay put at home.

"DON'T COME TO CORNWALL!" - Doctor Phoebe Heveron, Treliske Hospital

"Hello all! Not something I want to post but as a doctor in Treliske I feel like I have to.
Please please please take covid seriously and stop all non essential contact with anyone.
It's going to be seriously bad in Cornwall and lots of people's lives will be at risk.
And second homers and holiday makers - PLEASE DON'T COME TO CORNWALL.
We're going to struggle with beds as it is without lots of extra people.
And you're likely to bring infection with you.
There will be plenty of other years to come on holiday.
Please please please think of everyone else and stay up country until the worst is over!"

mumof4males · 20/03/2020 16:14
