Anyone else panic bought alchohol? Lighthearted

Lighthearted thread.Alchohol is not a food group (yet) and it is a vice not a necessity (yet).

I've got 7 bottles of wine in and 2 bottles of gin in plus loads of tonic.

I'm so worried about getting the normal food in I just thought well I'll be fucked if I can't eat as I please and not have my wine too.Anyone else? Smile

Yep! Had a case delivered yesterday.

God knows when we'll be brave enough to go to the supermarket, so booze is the trade-off for a diet of sardines and out-of-date chickpeas.

IkeaSlave · 20/03/2020 08:09

Yup
I recommend bulk buying chocolate as well

Everyone has judging by the depleted shelves yesterday, only champagne, expensive gins and craft type beers were in stock. No cases of regular fosters type lager, only the more expensive wines and things like Tia Maria were on the shelves.

I couldn't get any wine I like in Sainsburys yesterday. They had some sweet Greek red number, mulled wine or the expensive stuff in the red section.

Slowpokeslimmer · 20/03/2020 09:57

Definitely. We already have a stock in from Christmas. Bought a bottle of Apple Jack Daniels and a bottle of spiced rum. Have got to do childcare for grandchildren so will need it.

I got 10 bottles of sparkling wine this week (2 different stores)
The wine aisle in the shops I went to were fully stocked but in north Worcestershire my sister reported wine aisle empty Confused
She over heard some pensioners chatting about it and they decided to have a bus trip together (5 miles or so) to another shop Hmm
She has heard a similar conversation at a small local shop (potatoes this time) and the 2 women decided to take a trip together - only acquaintances from the rest of the convo she thinks - who wouldn't have done so under normal circumstances
I think some older people are enjoying the contact from this tbh

I'm reasonably stocked with gin and wine, but may have to peel the labels off in order to wipe my bottom!

kingis · 20/03/2020 10:21

Yes we have bought lager.

Vinorosso74 · 20/03/2020 14:03

I successfully bought 2 bottles of acceptably priced wine today!

daisypond · 20/03/2020 14:05

alcohol shelves were bare in the supermarket this morning. So someone has been buying it. Not me.

fussychica · 20/03/2020 14:15

Bought 2 cases of wine last week. Always have a couple of bottles of gin in stock as well as lots of non alcoholic beers and mixers. DH says his alcoholic beer stock is down to a few bottles so might need to try and get some when we shop next.
