Why on earth aren't we in lockdown yet?

I totally expected an announcement tonight that London would be put in lockdown. But, nothing. And it shouldn't just be London, it should be country wide. Not enough people are taking the social distancing seriously enough. The government can't give people that responsibility, they need to enforce it.

I just don't get why it hasn't happened and yet Boris can talk about turning the tide in 12 weeks!

Can someone explain the factual logic behind the no lockdown yet?

Explain it? Not. Beyond me. Despite a good smattering of scientific degrees and a job in analytics

I have no idea what Boris is thinking. The situation in London is getting out of control and we could soon be on the same path as Italy.
