Has anyone noticed about delivery slots...

All the supermarkets have closed slots passed the 8th April? I was going to place my normal Morrison’s delivery and was looking for a slot and there aren’t any for the rest of the year

I then checked Sainsburys, Tesco and Ocado and they were the same

So I’m assuming they’ve shut slots across the board to stop people block booking!?

It makes sense but I’ve not seen any info about when they will open the next set. I’m checking daily at the moment

Ah thought it was just me, I noticed that on Morrisons. Wonder when they will release slots.

Tanith · 19/03/2020 22:06

How are you getting on to Ocado? The website is closed until Saturday.

GetRid · 19/03/2020 22:08

Hopefully they will be reserved for just elderly or key workers etc

I think even if you normally shop online you should stop doing it, to allow those that really need it to get deliveries

Fiddlersgreen · 19/03/2020 22:10

I noticed that but had assumed you could always only access a few weeks of dates not that this was a new thing.
I’ve never tried to book that far in advance before

NuclearWinter · 19/03/2020 22:13

Ocado is down but that would always have been the case. For several years you have been able to book up to three weeks ahead but no more - except Christmas deliveries which work a little bit differently.

It wouldn't surprise me if all online grocers had the three week rule.

Willow4987 · 19/03/2020 22:14

@Tanith I checked Ocado yesterday before it went down

I’m reluctant to shop physically if possible as I’ve got a toddler and newborn in tow who hasn’t had any kind of Vaccination yet (although I know they won’t be any good against this, I’d just rather he had them). Appreciate it may be the only way though for the foreseeable

I do think if it does end up being elderly/vulnerable only they need to reduce the minimum spend. ÂŁ40 is a lot of money to some pensioners to spend on food, unless they shopped for the whole month maybe

Tesco has always been three weeks available at a time

Sugarfreejelly · 19/03/2020 22:17

I have a slot booked with Tesco for 10th April and I can see up until 15th. However, I am subscribed to their supersaver delivery service so I think that’s why.

Walkingdeb · 19/03/2020 22:24

I have just got a slot for this Saturday with Sainsbury's when before tonight nothing was available for weeks so keep checking, although I don't suppose I'll get much of my order.

Anotherdayanothernight · 19/03/2020 22:26

I've got a Tesco slot for the 9th of April, booked today and that was the earliest, have a yearly midweek pass so not sure if that makes a difference..

mumwon · 19/03/2020 22:36

we have book for pick up BUT asked for it to be placed in boot - & mentioned we were self isolating (dh vulnerable ++++) hopefully that will cover us - but this wont be in our own town - that daft scheme of pensioners only for an hour -honestly why could none of them see that had a potential for going wrong

Talia99 · 19/03/2020 22:38

@Walkingdeb - same for me with Sainsbury’s this weekend. Clear slots all day Saturday and Sunday - I assume they’ve just put more vans on and they aren’t going as fast because people have already checked and found none this week.

Purplecatshopaholic · 19/03/2020 22:44

No slots in my area - will just keep checking back I guess

Lazyllama · 19/03/2020 22:56

I've got one for Tues 14th with Tesco Booked it yesterday.

Willow4987 · 19/03/2020 23:26

Must just be my area then! I’ll keep checking

I’ve also got a midweek pass, so hoping I can actually use it soon as I literally brought it just before I had the baby anticipating needing to use home delivery with 2 babies under 2 for a while

I have a Tesco slot booked for 11th April. Just checked and I can book up until the 16th April - which is exactly 4 weeks ahead - Tesco are normally only 3 so think they’ve actually extended how far ahead you can book.

Petiolaris · 19/03/2020 23:48

How could they realistically check if you’re vulnerable before letting you book a delivery? Are they going to ask for a doctors note?
