AIBU to go for a coffee at friends house ?
Giffgaff99 · 19/03/2020 21:52
I'll drive there and back. Is it safe in the current virus climate? Friend is not ill that she knows of
Fr0g · 19/03/2020 21:56
Wouldn't have thought a problem if neither of you are high risk, or needing to see/care fore someone that is.
I'm using zoom for lots of chats with friends, but still planning to go on holiday next week (isolated cottage about an hours rive away).
ChicChicChicChiclana · 19/03/2020 21:58
Is it essential contact? If not, don't go.
The message is quite simple really.
LangSpartacusCleg · 19/03/2020 21:58
As long as neither of you claim to be practicing self isolation, fine.
Spinakker · 19/03/2020 21:58
If you keep your distance from each other I think it's fine.
IggyAce · 19/03/2020 22:01
I’m meeting a friend for coffee next week in an open space, I will need it for my sanity. I’ve been messaging friends daily especially those having to self isolate.
EarringsandLipstick · 19/03/2020 22:03
No 🙄 you are trying to keep your circle of contacts as small as possible. It's about being logical.
No non-essential contact.
JasonBrun · 19/03/2020 22:04
Non-Essential Social Contact.
Which of those words are you struggling with?
PurpleDaisies · 19/03/2020 22:08
Ffs.
How many people’s lives are you willing to risk for that cup of coffee?
Skype instead.

BeansOnToast4T · 19/03/2020 22:09
Why do so many people choose not to understand the meaning of non-essential social contact?
We all have to pull together and follow the advice, I'm not happy at being so restricted but I understand the reasons for it.
Coffeeandtv1983 · 19/03/2020 22:09
Wow, what a lovely bunch of people you are. You should be proud.
PurpleDaisies · 19/03/2020 22:10
If you keep your distance from each other I think it's fine.
It isn’t. It really isnt.
The nhs website explicitly says social distancing which everybody should be doing means no visitors to the house.
If you can clearly explain why “everybody” doesn’t include you and set a number on how many people’s lives you are willing to risk for your cup of coffee, crack on.
AeroplaneLady · 19/03/2020 22:11
No.
What s essential about it??
You are supposed to be minimising contact. Makes a fucking mockery of the people sitting tight and following
Pilot12 · 19/03/2020 22:12
Could you not have coffee over a video call in your own homes?

No - I wouldn’t. I would meet a friend for a walk and stay a reasonable distance with no physical contact at all but I will not be going to anyone’s house or having anyone at my house in the near future.
Olawisk · 19/03/2020 22:13
I’d go and I will.
I had a friend over today, been to the supermarket twice.
Life goes on. Il go out until I’m told I can’t.
Marilynmansonsothereye · 19/03/2020 22:13
The majority vote makes me feel a little bit better.
june2007 · 19/03/2020 22:15
I am still at work so basically had lunch with 2 others today. And was in a room with around 20 others so a coffee with someone who as far as you know does not have it and neither do you should be fine.
Coffeeandtv1983 · 19/03/2020 22:15
You know fuck all about me JasonBrun. All I said was to be so nasty.
