Toddler with cough

DD1 (2.5) has been snotty and with a cough for what seems like weeks. All the kids in her nursery were snotty as many are this time of year. She's now coughing more at night and sometimes during the day - I wouldn't call it persistent. I can hear phlegm in her chest. No temperature.

Does this mean we need to self isolate? DH thinks yes but it's hard to know whether this falls into the "new persistent cough" as she's been snotty for ages!

This is the current guidance for coughs on the NHS website which I think makes it a bit clearer what counts as continuous:

new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

Thanks @stopbeingadinosaur. I think that clarifies that we should SI. She has been coughing for more than an hour in her cot tonight. Oh joy....!
