Irresponsible?

BIL is planning on taking his two young children to stay with PIL, both elderly, one with underlying health condition, on Sunday. None of them see any issue with this and say they will practice social distancing whilst all living together (!) I am so enraged by this selflishness: am I overreacting?

No you aren’t over reacting.

We have no hope if people carry on with this sort of madness.

thepeopleversuswork · 19/03/2020 19:45

No. No. No. Tell him no.

If people carry on like this we're going to have hundreds more deaths, a total UK lockdown and a long lasting economic disaster. Why can't people grow up?

mariamerryweather · 19/03/2020 19:49

DH and I have told them all no, they just won't listen and think it's ok as the kids don't have any symptoms. We have said that they could very easily be carrying it. I am so, so angry about it: feels like we need a lockdown to have any hope of controlling the spread. We have been in self isolation since Tuesday, and yes it's hard, but it has to be done! Sorry for ranting, glad I am not the only person who thinks this is madness.

mariamerryweather you're not ranting, you're expressing totally valid concern and your BIL is a selfish bastard. And you can tell him that from MN.

Thank you! It's this attitude of 'well, the advice doesn't apply to us' that is driving me wild.
