Thick or just selfish?

So pissed off with people around me not taking it seriously. Relative has been spending all day with friends and a snotty toddler, relative is immunocompromised and saying that it's so good certain shops are allowing slots for the vulnerable and elderly so that she can get some bits without worrying. Confused

Wonderful idea, spending time with multiple adults and a small child socialising for hours in a small room, then going when the vulnerable are shopping whilst vulnerable yourself therefore more pressure to the nhs and potentially putting lives at risk.

Are people just incredibly thick....selfish or both?!

I don't know why it's so difficult to understand.

Bit of both.
My sister in law is still going ahead with dnephews birthday party on Sunday. Huge gathering, she’s invited both classes in his year and lots of outside school friends for a disco. According to her everyone is still going and is really excited.

She’s put out that I won’t be taking Dd. We as a family are self isolating. We have no plans to leave the house or see anyone.

She’s excited that her children aren’t going to school next week and has lots of activities planned. This evening they are going to a fucking Toby Carvery and she “can’t understand” why we won’t join them.

Actually, she’s not selfish she’s just thick as pigshit.

Well, a snotty cold isn’t a symptom of Coronavirus so she’s probably risk-assessed the situation and decided that she’s safe. And working with the elderly today, some of the fuckers are the most blasé about the whole thing anyway. I have no doubt that it’ll be many older people refusing to self-isolate rather than younger people in better health.

For all the cries of “thick!”, “selfish!” I think most people are doing remarkably well. The world is essentially being run by people from their living rooms in their pyjamas, none of us really have any idea of what’s going on or how the hell we we have to do this for, and yet most people are practicing social distancing without going into full on panic mode which helps nobody.
