Anyone else not able to think about anything else?

And does anyone have any tips to try and get it out of my head?

I've been told to self isolate so am working from home now. News constantly on, on this forum, checking Twitter for updates, WhatsApp chats lighting up every minute talking about it.

I'm a big reader but I can't seem to focus on anything. Likewise box sets etc. Even while I work it's always at the back of my mind.

I'm not doing any panic buying or any of that nonsense btw. It's just my mind, can't stop it going round and round.

I need to get a grip! Is anyone else finding this?

Me! Even when I come on here I'm reminded of it all. There is no respite.

Lynda07 · 19/03/2020 14:45

I too am self isolating which doesn't bother me; I do think about other things and become very involved in dramas I'm watching and things I read as well as trying to do something locally at arms length. However, the corona virus does keep coming into my head. That's quite normal I think, it won't last forever.

It's probably worse for you because you are younger than me (I presume that because you go to work and are working at home), at my age I don't feel the pressure so much.

Lynda07 · 19/03/2020 14:47

PS: I'm sure you will soon adjust to the different type of life, sissy, as long as your loved ones - and you - keep well.

StuntPineAppleHead · 19/03/2020 14:47

Yes, I'm finding this too

I'm not panicked at all. I've got about a month's worth of food in the house (not through panic buying, I've just always got a packed freezer and cupboards). I'm working from home but work is pretty relaxed at the moment so it's all very leisurely. I'm at minimal risk because I am not in a 'vulnerable group'.

But there's just an underlying sense that everything is about to go to shit at any minute which means I'm struggling to settle to anything or keep my mind occupied for more than 10-minutes at a time before I drift back to c-19.

I'm trying to keep my distance from social media because it's just a lot of non-expert people giving out their opinion like it matters or means something. To me, social media (even MN at the moment) is the digital equivalent of sitting on a park bench shouting a geese.

BadCatDirtyCat · 19/03/2020 14:48

Yeah, it's difficult. I'm stuck at home in self isolation in the spare room. Trying to work but it's really hard to concentrate. DP is massively stressed about the possibility of catching it from me as he as underlying health conditions and that in turn is stressing me out more. Not what I want really as I'm pregnant Sad

**a goose

**or geese

treedragon · 19/03/2020 14:49

Me- I only have to cough and I am getting all bothered.

Same if i think my throat doesnt feel right. Then you have the Daily Mail showing photos of makeshift morgues being erected -

It's causing me anxiety i think.

Knocksomesense · 19/03/2020 14:50

I'm just beginning to think about other things now. We're currently 10 days into self isolation as husband and son both have autoimmune conditions.

I'm beginning to relax. I'm beginning to feel less terrified. I'm beginning to work out solutions to the financial and logistical issues we are facing.

I'm very very tired though. But maybe it's because we're both trying to juggle working, studying and two preschoolers

belay · 19/03/2020 14:50

Yep. I will be on edge now until schools can re-open.

oldwhyno · 19/03/2020 14:51

I'm with you. This whole thing is so distracting and work for me just seems so trivial. can you send me a few [caring slaps]?

TheWalkingTalkingRed · 19/03/2020 15:16

Me. i had been trying really hard to stay in a positive mindframe, but have been off work all week, with tonsillitis and the news has been on constantly, I've been constantly refreshing this thread and it's consumed me. I sobbed to DH Tuesday night as I don't think life will be quite the same for a very long time Also after the schools close, and if we DO go into a full lockdown like Spain etc then worry about my only child DD who thrives with her friends....just feel very anxious at the moment. Tried very hard to put a brave face on things today though, as it's iactualy the frst day of school closures here (due to staffing being so low)

afrikat · 19/03/2020 16:18

Honestly I can't stop reading about it

Connie222 · 19/03/2020 16:19

Yes, but I think it’s mainly because I am pregnant and absolutely shitting a brick.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 19/03/2020 16:23

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and now constantly on edge. Terrified I won't get a csection and worried partner won't be allowed at the birth. Frantic about there being no nappies or formula on the shelves. Worried everything is going to shut down for months and we won't be able to buy essentials for baby. My head is a mess

Prepenultimate · 19/03/2020 16:28

I feel better today, knowing my kids are going to be off school. I was finding it a bit of a strain trying to live with one foot in the normal world and the other foot in a new crazy world. We can all live in the crazy new world now.

Connie222 · 19/03/2020 16:34

@LittleBoyJuly2020 that’s my fear too. Even though I’ve had two previous sections I’m scared they will be cancelled. And then I’m scared that if I am forced to deliver naturally that there won’t be enough staff if something goes wrong. I’m due in August.

Allyfromtheblock · 19/03/2020 16:47

I am also super worried.. start working for 5 minutes and then to get coffee, end up stockpiling in supermarket, and try working again, and then distracted by the news..

NowSissyThatWalk · 19/03/2020 19:36

I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's like it's always not far from my mind at all.
Life won't be the same for a very long time
