Marks and Spencer are refusing to pay workers who have to take time off to care for their children. My friend is having to get the grandparents to do the childcare as they can't afford the time off. What a disgrace.

Why should they pay employees who aren't working??

It's crap for your friend and I really sympathise but M&S has been in trouble for years, they've kept afloat by its food halls for ages. They shut hundreds of shops last year. There clothes sales will be down massively, like the CEO of Next said yesterday "no one buys outfits to stay at home". They probably can't afford to pay every one of it's employees to be at home- it could finish them.
