Are playgrounds off limits?

We are practising social distancing at the moment and the playgrounds are currently empty. My 4 year olds nursery closed earlier this week.

We are in london and live in a tiny flat. We need fresh air and for my little one to get some exercise. Things are worse in london but I just want to know if we stay away from playgrounds.

In Ireland they have been closed. You would need to sanitise each piece of play equipment between each use.

open spaces are fine for an hour a day walks even in lockdown. I wouldn't go near a playground, there may be other kids and too many things they touch. Too much spreading risk.

I think running around the park is fine but probably better to avoid actual playground equipment if you can.

Yes playgrounds are off limits.

I have been thinking about this and although nothing has been made official yet I have decided to stick to the forest and/or open spaces. I'm about to take my dc out for some fresh air and exercise and we'll have to walk past the playground but they're not going in!

Can you take out a ball or bike/scooter and do that instead?

woodencoffeetable · 19/03/2020 10:46

in many other countries playgrounds are closed.
running around and kicking a ball, skipping rope etc is fine. and it's good to let off some steam.

If it stops raining for any length of time we’ll get the frisbee out.

I would avoid regardless as the equipment will be covered in germs.

Go out to a green space for a walk, take own ball to play with or scooter etc. Have teddy bears picnic outside at the moment . But nothing communal.
