Self isolation and sick note

Crawley65 · 19/03/2020 10:41

I am self isolating due to a continuous cough. I’ve just let work know and they said I need a sick note. Where do I get this from? Do not want to waste GP m’s time but 111 sick note not up and running yet.

They said otherwise fill in SSP form 1 but this looks like it applies to employees not eligible for SSP?

Any advice please.

How long do you need to self isolate for? You need to self certify for the first 7 days and you don't get a sick note until after that time

I work in a gp, won't issue sick note untill you have self certified with your employer for 7 days. That's gov guidelines. Not sure on 111's rules though but I suspect the same

Latest guidance. You still self certify for 7 days. There is going to be a form on the 111 site imminently for use from day 8.

Thank you. Work were really unhappy I’ve phoned in sick and very unhelpful. It feels like a cold but with a hard cough so I really think I should follow government advice.

I thought it was 14 days isolation per family but they said 7? Sure I am right.

7 if you have symptoms, the 14 is to see if you get symptoms I think.

My GP is not giving sick notes for self isolation at all.

7 days if you live alone. If there are other people living with you, everyone needs to isolate for 14 days.

I'm sorry that your employer is being so unreasonable. You're doing the right thing. I hope you feel better soon

If you have symptoms then you isolate for 7 days. Those without symptoms isolate for 14 days as that's the incubation period. If they get symptoms in the time they then isolate for 7 more days
