Australia travel

Hi, I was supposed to be travelling to Australia next Friday to visit my best friends as a gift from them. Obviously that’s not happening - I had already decided a few weeks a ago before the boarder shut that I would not be going. My friends had them suggested I rearrange the flights for July when there is another school holiday (need to go holiday time). I have heard now that the Aus boarder May be closed for 6 months so (til September) if needed but obviously we don’t know how it will pan out . I can’t go Christmas time.

Do you think I should still change The flights to July and then change them again if boarder is still shut or CV is still rampant? Or should I just see if I can cancel and refund or count as loss if I can’t refund?

Also, Please don’t have a go at me for wanting to travel to see my best friends I am only asking the question and asking for advice. I haven’t made any actions yet. Please don’t tell me I’m selfish or stupid there is no need for that.
